THE ARENA

THE ARENA

Located in the Down, The Arena functions as a basic gym/training center during the day. Though not nearly as well off or as elaborate as gyms in the Up, it is unique in that it focuses in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat; as such, most of its (limited) training equipment is geared towards such. Punching bags, weights for strength training, etc. Its hours to perform as such are limited as well, because the true draw happens at nights.

That's when The Arena truly comes to life.

During the night, the Arena converts itself in to a straight-up fighting ring, hosting fights of Submissive against Submissive, Dominant against Dominant. These fights are primarily hand to hand (though 'special' fights can and do happen), and are monitored by a referee who ensures neither party gets overly injured. A list of scheduled fights is posted every open night, and savvy attendees can find bookies who take bets on the fights - though far be it from them to outright advertise this.

All fighters must pay an entry fee; in the case of a Submissive, they must also have a Dominant sponsoring them. The Dominant need not be contracted with them, but is responsible for paying the fee as well as the one being paid any winnings earned. The Dominants are also able to decide what considers a 'loss', tapping out for their Submissive at any time. In the case of Dominant against Dominant, the general rule is to tap-out or knock-out. Another ruleset may be decided upon with prior discussion between the fighters, and would be declared before the fight. (Examples of these include First Blood, Ring-Out, or Knockdown.)

Exhibition Matches can also be hosted, which is another term for allowing things such as sex and kink to be involved. In general, these are also announced beforehand, listed on the schedule and generally towards the end of the night. Fighters can sign up for a specific exhibition, but if they don't receive an opponent, it will have to be cancelled. (Exhibition examples include Environmental [mud and the like], Costumes, Multiple vs 1, etc.)

At least one medic is on standby at all times, for injuries beyond the scope of acceptance. Refreshments are also offered, for those who want a drink with their experience, but it's essentially what one could expect at any common sporting event.

The Arena also has nights in which the doors are closed and only a particular clientele is accepted. On these nights, the fighter's entry fee is thrown out the window, Submissives need not sponsors, and Dominants may freely fight their lowers at will. Rules of the roles are also swept aside as these 'Anathema' fights take all comers, regardless of match-up, but they also tend to be bloodier and more injury-prone. In short, it caters to the sort who don't care about the social norms so much as they want to see violence, harsh and brutal - or those who want to partake in it. Still, it goes without saying that in Dominant vs Submissive fights, the Dominant is generally the one cheered on, and should a Submissive win?...

They might want to watch themselves on their way home, especially if they've no contract. The Arena's rules operate only within its own walls.

QUICK NOTES;
-Fights can be handwaved, as can bets. There'll be an occasional open log but not everything needs to be threaded out unless you want to.
-A Dom & Sub contracted to one another may fight each other during normal nights, so long as it doesn't break contract [eg; sub not to be harmed]. The Sub remains expected to lose.
-A Sub who starts attracting too much attention during Anathema fights may find themselves unexpectedly thrust in to a fight where the odds are stacked against them, in order to force a loss or tap-out. The latter may or may not be respected, depending on the crowd.
